Yesterday we spoke with our good friends, Rene and Vivette Terras, and decided that we would get together today at their house in Pierrefeu. Vivette suggested that she teach us to prepare a "repas Provencale". We quickly agreed that it was a wonderful idea and suggested that later we would do the same with an "American meal" at our place in Bormes.
We were up early so that we could arrive at their house by 10:30am. Upon our arrival we learned that they had invited another couple, Harry and Elizabeth van Wees, to join us. Harry and Elizabeth currently live in Pierrefue, having moved here 6 years ago from Germany. Harry is originally from Holland. Rene and Vivette cook with them once a month in classes that emphasize Provencale cuisine. It was great fun meeting them and spending the day together!
After a having a quick beverage, we began preparing the meal. Elizabeth brought a cake, but assembled it at Vivette's, so we could all watch. Skip and Rene mostly "supervised" as the rest of us began preparing the meal. It was all tons of fun and a most enjoyable afternoon!! (The pictures are not in order.)
Our meal was fantastic and the conversation was amazing... a hilarious mixture of French, English, German, and Dutch. We had great fun trying to make out what everyone was saying... a dictionary came in handy, as did multiple hand gestures.
Here we are surveying Rene's garden!
And then back to dining!
It rained like crazy once we returned to Bormes. Once inside our toasty warm house, we were surprised to see this rainbow as we looked out of the balcony. Indeed, a perfect ending to a perfect day.
