L'Orangerie

L'Orangerie is a beautiful home in the hillside village of Bormes-les-Mimosas.  Skip and I have stayed in Bormes many times, but L'Orangerie is by far our most favorite place to stay.  It is situated on five acres directly below the Grand Hotel and just above the Place Gambetta, the main plaza of the village.  The house faces south to a beautiful view of the Mediterranean and the Port of Bormes.  The property consists of five acres of flowers and fruit trees as well as palms and pines.

Currently the house is configured as an upstairs/downstairs duplex.  The owners (who are university professors who live in Venice Beach, California) maintain the lower level for themselves and rent the upper level to tourists.  Each level has its own entry, etc., and as thick as the walls are there is never any disturbances whatsoever.  The upstairs consists of 3 bedrooms, a living/dining room, fully equipped kitchen, and two bathrooms.  However, the upstairs can be sectioned off to include a single bedroom, one bath, kitchen and living/dining room.  When it is only Skip and me, we rent it configured with only one bedroom.  Each duplex is quite spacious (maybe 2,000 square feet) with 10ft.+ ceilings.  The living/dining room and bedrooms all face south and have a wonderful view of the village below and the sea beyond.

Flowers from the 75th Corso fleuri.  They would brighten any room.

When we were here in September, 2011 the plans for the pool were being submitted to the "town council".  This is how far they have progressed since then.  When the pool is completed I fear the rent will increase dramatically, especially in the summer.
